Bob Koopmann, OSB, long-time Professor of Music at Saint John's University and The College of Saint Benedict, and President Emeritus at Saint John's University, will perform a solo program entitled, "Piano Classics and Improvisations," with piano compositions by Rachmaninoff, Brahms, Schumann, Barber, Ginastera and Fr. Bob's own improvisations. In recent years, Koopmann performed solo piano concerts in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Yokohama, and Fujimi, Japan, New York City, Sioux City, lowa, Madison, Wisconsin, Collegeville, and Dubuque, lowa. A review of his New York recital stated that his concert "left no doubt as to the genius of the composers and the musician interpreting them." It further stated that his performance "challenged the intellect, engaged the heart and evoked the sense of wonder..." His performance on Sunday, January 27th, will include a free- will offering in support of the Holtkamp Organ Renovation at the Abbey Church.
